MON--KEYS to attack?

In another ill-advised moment at Batu Caves,as I decided to climb up the stairs to cave top for prayers, I saw an American guy trying to snap a photo with a monkey. This man actually tried to bring his face closer to the monkey so that his girlfriend can snap a photo. Anyhow, its still a monkey, as soon as the monkey showed it's 4 inch bicuspids that were curving towards his neck, and he immediately made a hasty retreat, and the monkey went after him as the workers there manage to chase the monkey away.

Believe me, I am a frequent visitor to Batu Caves temple and I already witnessed so many of attacks even with the monkeys themselves, fighting each other. Something like watching National Geographic channel Live.. I am aware this place is a religous place and one of the most attractive tourist spot in our country, still I believe there is a need to re-consider again the safety measures, doesnt matter for us or the monkeys. It is acceptable that as long as we dont interupt and disturb them, no harm to us . But sometimes things can rapidly change unexpectedly, as these monkeys wont hesitate to grab all your belongings if they are hungry. For example the can drink coke, eat ice creams, Twisties , snacks and so on. They even throw away people's expensive cameras as soon as it finds out that it was not food. Its not a joke, its true.

You think they are friendly, well think again. In another incident, a friend of mine Suren, we went to temple for a prayer that day, maybe if i am not mistaken, opening ceremony of Lord Perumal's temple. As we were walking around, we saw a monkey staring at us. So, our hero here,my friend really believe that he can shake hands together with that monkey, playfully he get closer and closer, and suddenly this monkey scratched him and ran away as we shouted, to scare the monkey . From what I remember , the monkey just swings it's hand once, towards my friend. And Boom....damage already done by it's sharp nails. He needed more than 18 stiches and 3 days of antibiotic injections. Lucky for him, nothing serious, and sure it was his fault.

Here is another short story, when i was 15 years old, I still remember a lady tourist screaming like hell, when one of the monkeys grabbed her back and her camera, thinking it was food. After realising the camera is not it's favourite item for lunch, it throws and slams the camera into pieces. How we will respond, if this kind of things happens to us? Of course, we can't claim a single cent from these monkeys, and only thing we can do, just walk away...

I know it's their habitat and this is their home, and all of these monkeys really deserve to be here. Well, I am not a person without environmental concern inside me. So,here is some you can do when you encounter unexpected situations and when things get out of control:

1) Don't bring/carry small plastic bags, containers or anything covered/wrapped

2) Don't make the monkey to think that you are carrying eatable items, because they love

bananas and snacks.

3) Don't even try/think to touch the baby monkey( infants)

4) Shout or Clap your hands together as hard as you can if things get worst

5) Grab a stick if the situation gets beyond your control

6) Stay away of them especially when the monkeys fighting each other or you will get

scratches

7) If you see a monkey alone, you can feed it, but if it is with it's troop(cartload), don't try to

feed, otherwise there is 65% of chances you will find yourself in trouble.

Finally, as an additional information, these monkeys are from Macaque monkey's family. In late 90's it was discovered that nearly all (about 90%) captive Macaques are carriers of the Herpes B Virus. This virus is harmless to monkeys but infections of humans, while rare, are potentially fatal.Bites, scratches and exposures to mucous membranes, including the eye , must be cleaned immediately. Samples from the monkey and human should be sent for diagnostic testing as reccomended.

I can accept the fact that monkeys are "holy" and sacred for Hindus just like snakes and cows. We should have some respect to these cartloads, and as Indian we always do. Please be carefull, and extra cautious, especially for those who used to show off in front of their girlfriends, friends or to impress anyone. Dont try to be a hero all the time as you might slide down to zero. My advice, just follow how will a comedian will react to this kind of situations.

This article is to create awareness among people, who still got no idea what these monkeys may up to sometime..so cheers always . Happy New Year.

Thank you.

Just dont cross the line...

Its 30th of December, and i believe guys and girls out there are ready to rumble New Year, with new resolutions and ambitions. some of us even will try to fullfil our "unsettled" issues before this, now... Anyway, guys maybe they will stick to their "port" and celebrate New Year in their own way..and the girls..this is when things goes unpredictable...just kidding...well,talking about girls going clubbing, spend their weekends at bars and clubs, exspecially Indian girls it really hurts..sometimes.

Well, nowdays this topic has become hot and probably the most discussed in online indian blogs, articles and so on. So,this is a sensitive issue{made to be like that} , and its true..SENSITIVE. We've read all about this crap, time to time, and everytime I go through all this blogs,I can feel how much our Indian guys are concerned about our girls, from our society.Just in one word, all these guys are dissapointed of from what they had experienced.

Once I was surfing a blog, a blogger tells his side of story, when he was in a club, with his friends, and he saw a couple in the club drunk, dancing together. After a while our blogger was shocked, when he saw the same girl , who was dancing with her boyfriend moments ago,is now dancing with another guy, and her so-called boyfriend is watching them dancing. [ Yenna Kodumai Saar]. Our writer of the blog, in the state of dissapointment maybe, questioned everyone, Is this what they call cultural shock?

This is just an example of one, and I still think that this sort of issues are happening everywhere...Yes,it is true..everytime when you see indian girls working or simply drops in to hang around and to have fun,it really irriatates...What happened to Bharatanatyam classes, Sanggetham and music classes our indian girls used to go to spend their free time...?It doesnt matter with whom these girls are coming? Their boyfriends, friends or whoever it might be..it still sucks!! How could nowdays guys are so bold to bring their girlfriends to pubs and clubs!! Maybe they are not in a serious relationship with those girls..its clear..they just want **## around...[not to guys who used to bring this same girl everytime they go clubbing].. Maybe they are so obssesed to Las Vegas style or San Francisco...why on earth these girls are adopting these styles here in our country when no body is appreciating them except their own boyfriend and friends[ intha dress unggalukku rombo alzhazgha iruku..and you look sexy in that] and the most interesting part, most of the girls will fall for that...trust me..and what will happen they will continue to do that...[kandravi da]

I really got no idea why all of them [girls] are into this so much, untill they have to behave in such an ucceptable manner. Are they really hooked up with all this mind relaxing activities, tension-releasing or whatever it is, I am not getting it! I have a friend, and i know his sisters's friends...one day when I went to my friend's house to pick him up for our Badminton game, and when i was waiting for him, his sister's friend were there discussing to go for clubbing after college exam finishes, my friend heard this and said "velekumaaru pinchurum...verey idamey kidaikilaiyah?"...I started to think why they decided to go clubbing after they finish their exam..GOD why not they say something about going for a trip..somewhere, for picnics or things like that...Dissapointed..they are starting to misinterpret everything...

Lets talk about Ladies Night..Indian girls are far more concerned about this event. Not to condemn them but its the truth. Really, when you know that they really can buy drinks[beer] for half from the original price[some Pubs and Clubs are really offering]. When you talk about Ladies Night,[sickening word] i dont know for others but for me it is. Please let me to explain to those who might be thinking where Ladies Night is an event where all clubs will be crowded with girls, well it is a promotional event ussually held in clubs and bars.

All of you got it? It is just one of the promotional tactics by the management of the entertainment clubs to attract more customers, and by using these girls as "free advertising tool" they really getting what they want...I dont know in Malaysia, but in the United States, Ladies Night events have been successfully challenged in lawsuits by men who were discriminated against by these events. So,just wait till someone to come up with this same move here..It happened there, why not here? My request, just dont let all that to happen and we dont deserve it because it is not a culture where we used to it..Do I sound hypocrite?

The actual problem here is changes in our style of expressing everything, exspecially girls. I am not trying to condemn all the girls here. I still believe there is a lot of young beatifull girls out there dont really prefer to hang out in nightclubs and bars, and most of them hates it[ I think so]. Basically, girls are very sensitive, and when it comes about another girl who seem to be better than themselves, their high sensitive receptors in their brain will make them to feel more sensitive and willingness to change and adopt a new style of living by 15-20%.I know..It doesn't even sounds like an idea, rite? Whatever, maybe what I've stated above in your point of view is not relevant to the topic I am talking about, but still i choose to write this in this way because there is some reasons behind that.

Look, I am not trying to insist that clubbing is wrong , sometimes I really feel like "puking" when I confront girls overeacting in pubs.Alright. I have to admit we, (guys) do fail to maintain our "machoness" too especially when we are drunk. But what I am trying to pin point here is when its about guys I still can digest the fact, I mean all of us do have this common understanding about average Indian "machans" out there on how we will act in this situations. At the same time I am responsible to send a clear and loud message that guys are in the middle of educating process on changes we need on how we behave particularly in certain situations. But in the opposite side they are not even trying or at least even think about it.

Finally lets talk about perceptions our kaigals out there will make when encounter some average Indian girls in pubs.Yes, we will be having bad perception about them, drawing our own sketch about this matter, speculating around and things like that. For instance let say a group of guys are hanging around in a pub,and there comes another group of girls witrh their boyfriends entering.Normally the very first speculation will be made on that moment. For example:

Abang 1- "kootittu vantaanunggalah. Yenggathan thedi kandupudikaranungguloh"

Abang 2- "Paakey oru maariyah irukunnggey intha pillinggey..."

Abang 3- "Intha sarakunggey thanni adikonggey poleh, athan inngey vanduirukunggey"

Believe me, I am sure if there is any average Indian like me out there reading this, and they will immediately notice whatever written above is true. After all these speculations thrown at these girls, still nobody seem to be bothered or concerned. I know I can"t be always right. Most of the time, I've seen girls hanging out in clubs and pubs, just by looking at them we can straightaway the first thought will be "Wow, sarakku"...It doesn't matter wether all these girls are going to this kind of places just because to have fun or entertainment purpose, still it brings bad omen for them. Trust me..This is true..

Being realistic and optimistic in this matter really can help change our own perception in this issue. So think don't spoil our own culture by adopting alienated cultures, as it doesn't benefit anyone in any term.

Remember,we just have to warn them that these kind of activities are able to lead to self destruction, and has the potential to destroy every single important values in our life. If we didn't encounter this issue properly, it might get worst in future, so please be wise.
